For Immediate Release

This morning, a group of our students went to Montgomery to make the case for 365英国上市官网. While the State Treasurer did not meet with them, they spoke eloquently to news media about the position his denial of the bridge loan has put them in, and they left written messages to be delivered to him asking him to reconsider. We can all be proud of how well they represented the College.

On August 15, the Birmingham City Council passed a resolution that charged Mayor Randall Woodfin with creating an economic development plan of up to $5 million to support Birmingham-Southern College. Since then, we have continued to work with Mayor Woodfin, who will formally present his plan to the Council on Nov. 21. We are grateful to him and to the Council for their consideration of this critically important support.

Other avenues of support are firming up this week.

These developments give us confidence that, at a minimum, we will complete the academic year, during which we will continue to procure funds that will stabilize the College for the long term. That includes working with the Alabama Legislature, private donors, and other entities.

Students, you should register for spring 2024 classes and continue with your plans for the January E-Term.

Alumni and friends, you are invited to make your year-end contributions, as your generosity means more than ever to the College and the students we are honored to serve.

And everyone who understands the value of 365英国上市官网 – named one of the top 10 liberal arts colleges in the South just last week by the Wall Street Journal – should keep making those calls and emails to the Alabama Legislature, the State Treasurer, and the Governor.

We will continue the fight for our future.

Forward, Ever!

Daniel B. Coleman
16th President
